so, instead of all the bickering about who likes it and who doesnt, how about just a simple poll...you like it or don't. Makes it easier to figure it out other than from all the comments

I know its early but the poll runs forever and for those that havent made up their mind yet, just pop back in a few days and check it out. Add your list of pros and cons

Feature: Advantage pre-viewing. This is regarding the ability for advantage members to see the other preposted images for one of the contests before the contest opens for voting.

These are some that I've seen...add your own.
Pros
  • Being able to help pre-posters with mistakes in their post.
Cons
  • Being able to see other ideas, quality, etc
  • Might cause someone to not post if they see many entries they consider better than the others.
  • Removes the "vote worthy" impact when the image is first seen. Based on my own experience, a vote is given for the first impression. This first impression is lost after seeing the same image a half dozen times already.
  • Might delay the submission of an entry from advantage members so as not to give out their idea before they absolutely have to.

These are the ones I remember...again...add your own.

while thats an interesting PRO Showcase, you could do the same once the contest opens, like we always have. I got advantage to work on things longer, w/o seeing what others have done, not to see what they are about to do...

and I agree 100% with the cons

also seems as your views goes up as well..
Just checked tomorrows entry, and its got 16 views already Shocked I've only looked at it twice. poor Vlad has 48 pageviews. and a comment.
I really really don't like this.
plus like I said in another forum,
I don't want to wait to post, cause someone else may post before me then think I stole their idea. But I'm stuck not posting, so people dont steal the idea, or try to one up it.

I'm withholding any real judgement until we've given everything a chance.
On that note...I am very curious as to the reasoning behind this particuar change.
What were the particulars of deciding to go with it and more
importantly what were the hoped benefits of it?

Thanks for asking Scion.

Not one of my favorite additions.

I'll choose not to look at pre-posts in the contests that I plan to enter.

Well at least until I enter.

Well I think after initially thinking the idea stunk like a toads bum hole, I think the idea is a good one.... well it doesn't bother me basically.

but as a compromise, maybe you should only be able to see the thumbnails before the contest opens, you know to give a general idea of whats going on. But by no means showing the skills.

Middle ground anyone? Very Happy

OH COME ON SALLY! Spill it.
WHY? Why is the idea a good one?
HOW? How would thumbnails provide anything other than ideas for the next chopper?

See...here's another thing that I thought of...
What if you do something...and then look at the pre-posts...only to find out that someone else has done something very similar to what you've done...What do you do then...Do you re-do your chop that you may have spent hours on just so it doesn't look like you copied their idea...or do you post it anyway??

I really don't see a good advantage to previewing the pre-posts...maybe a thumbnail, like Marco suggested...but not the full size image... Rolling Eyes Or...maybe not...It kinda takes away from the suspense of it all when we get to see ahead of time what everyone else is doing... Rolling Eyes

aaaah DP, good point.
Now, mind you, I am not agreeing with you on this for fear of DeathofaClown thinking we're some sort of Hitler types too quick to judge...Im just saying its a good argument for the cons.

Ok..I am slightly shocked at this very minute...
I didn't see this coming..but looking at the pre-post for
next monday..I do believe I see a pretty stinking high
image quality value happening.
Shocked
