I made an animated gif for tomorrow's contest, but the filesize is way to big to post in a contest (it's about 6MB...). It's only 26 frames, so I know I should be able to get it within the limits, but when I reduce number of colors, it's still too big. I couldn't find a good tutorial via google, could I get any tips from ya'll?

Something that was helpfull with my gordonk entry (the lost one) was to reduce colors in the original by increasing the contrast in the image. (using curves, levels, contrast, whatever fits best)

This way I maintained a rather usefull color spectrum and detail but effectively reduced the the size of the final gif

Maybe give it a try?

I use the Advanced lossy option

For 26 frames at 55-x450 your gonna have to savagely bash it about. My recent Bomb entry was 490K and was 'only' 14 frames.

I had to set the lowest Lossy slider to 7 and the high point to 22.
I think I also set dither to 85%.

Basically you just juggle all the sliders till you get under 511 and are satified that the image hasnt suffered too much.

LOL...511...I'm still non-advantage...I've got to get under 125!!!

So, basically, I have no hope. Thanks for all the tips. I'll keep tinkering with it for awhile and do the best I can.
