while that is true the industry standard is MAC. it is far easier for the MAC to convert your illustrator/photoshop files from the IBM than the other way around.

Very true.
Ever tried to open a Mac file on a PC??? It ain't happenin'!!! Razz

ahh yes grasshopper, but I can save it so that your PC thinks its a IBM document, just by putting the .jpg or .ai at the end of the file name Wink

Wouldn't recommend it for anything I planned on keeping. Nothing screws up windows faster than a dual boot with linux. Especially if grub goes to sh*t! You might be able to get linux up but windows is a distant memory!

*interesting fact*

linux will run on just about any file system...even fat32. Windows will not recognise any partition other than a windows partition.

I've worked on both. Macs are just much more user freindly and less hassle. As for Photoshop. It, pretty much works the same in both OS'. Maybe the shortcut keys are different but pretty much it's the same. Both OS, brag speed. You can always "pimp" your computer. It's a personal choice really. If you are talking about a professional graphics computer I would say Mac is your best bet only because most of the indutry use them. If you want to also play games and stuff like that, You may want to go PC. There are way more games available for PC than there are Mac.
Good Luck.

I used to be a dedicated PC user and the "macheads" kept trying to convert me over. Then I started using a mac at my job about 10 yrs. ago and will never go back. I loaded Norton Antivirus on my mac at my home after running no antivirus on it for 6 yrs and it found nothing. Great security and will open more files plus easier work environment. Downfall is that if you just get an urge to buy some software and want it right away you better have a store that caters to mac because otherwise you have to order online. Comp USA is the only store I know of that has a mac dept.

I just got a mini-mac at work, and when I first took it out of the box, I thought what kind of power does this little thing have? I was Amazed! I have worked with Macs for years on all kinds of graphics, and believe me, this mini-mac, which is no larger than a box of candy, is one of the best machines I have used.

PC's are okay for word documents, surfing the net, and games. But for high end graphics, MAC is it!!! Smile
