That one day I can wake up and NOT pick up a cigarette...
I'm a cold turkey.
Gobble.
Gobble.
I've decided that, once and for all I'm gonna do this "quitting smoking" thing.
Today is Day One.
If anyone else here has done this recently, or in the past, and has any helpful hints for me PLEASE SHARE!!!
What made me decide to do it? TO better my health? TO freshen my breath?
No.
My seven year old asked me Friday when I was going to quit...and I told her I would quit beginning today...and I can't lie to her so I'm doing it.

I used the CQ patch. Will be 5 years tobacco free in June.
My advice, every time a craving comes up remember what your daughter asked.
I quit for mine as well. (I had been trying to quit for years, just never had the motivation like doing it for the kids)
also I chew sugarless gum when ever I crave something to do.
good luck Steveo. If you need support, I'm there for ya

I chewed gum and had a few jack daniels in the evenings.
Tapered off the jack daniels gradually over the course of the week.

The most important part of quitting is wanting to quit.
Seems like most people go through the motions of quitting to please someone else.
When the smell of someone elses cigarette genuinely offends you.
When the first two or three drags make you feel so sick that you wretch and strange phlegm comes from your eyes, nose, and ears. When you have smelled your last foul smelling cigarette.
Thats when you are ready to quit and it is easy.
I've quit twice. I honestly don't know what possessed me to pick up a cigarette and start again. I think the people I was running with were bad influences.
