These were hot when I was a kid.

Pez Dispensers false trivia, did you know that EBAY was started because of Pez dispensers? It's not true, Wink the founder wanted his wife to build up her collection so he started Ebay, as a way for her to buy and sell...false!

The online auction web site was founded in San Jose, California on September 3, 1995 by computer programmer Pierre Omidyar as AuctionWeb,[1] part of a larger personal site that included, among other things, Omidyar's own tongue-in-cheek tribute to the Ebola virus.

The very first item sold on eBay was Omidyar's broken laser pointer for $13.83. Astonished, he contacted the winning bidder and asked if he understood that the laser pointer was broken. In his responding email, the buyer explained: "I'm a collector of broken laser pointers."[citation needed] The frequently repeated story that eBay was founded to help Omidyar's fiancée trade PEZ Candy dispensers was fabricated by a public relations manager in 1997 to interest the media. This was revealed in Adam Cohen's 2002 book[2] and confirmed by eBay.

This is kind of funny, I bought one of those old GAF View Master - stereo picture disc's off ebay, it was an old Soap box derby race in Akron Ohio, and I was checking it out, and one of the pictures in the wheel was of my brother, he had won 2 years before me, more than 30 years later, and he never knew he was on it. I was a good sport and gave it to him Wink
