Today I found out that one of my cats needs some dental and medical care that will cost ~$1200.00 (US). Possibly more.
I don't have that kind of money after the recent home buying and emergency appendectomy.
With treatment she's expected to live another 7 to 10 years. Without treatment we'll likely have to put her down to ease her pain and suffering.

OH Tofu my friend had the same problem and took the pet to the closest vetrinary college and it was alot cheaper ...you can also ask for a payment plan at both vet and hospital also depending on the kind of money available to the SPCA , sometime's they will loan the money.I have had all of these options pan out for people...its worth a try if your willing....Good Luck!

In Malta all medical treatment even for pets is free, this does suck!!
