Hi all I am new to the site. I made a pic (the stained glass parrot) and went to upload it at 800 x 600 in a JPEG format I got the following error. "Error
The image must be no more than 800 pixels wide x 600 pixels high
and no less than 500 wide x 350 high and
in JPEG or GIF format and under 125KB (128000 raw bytes) in file size.

Please go back and try again." So I head back and make the image 500x350 and used the "save for web" to make it a GIF file went to upload it and no...it's 126KB.

So If I make it smaller in raw file size it's to small to be accepted pixel way (less than 500x350) and if I make it 500x350 it's to big KB wise.

Any help is appreciated....

Only save as a GIF if you're animating. Static image should be a JPG.

Using Photoshop? Which version?

For CS2:
Go into "Save for Web" and Set the size to 800x600 and then use the "Quality" slider to get the file size into the 125K limitation. Shoot to get as close as you can without hitting 125KB. See if that will upload for you.

I am stuck with version 7.0 but I see what you mean and have it below 125KB...

I'd like to add what I find to be a helpful hint:
I'm not sure about v.7, but v. 8 (CS) and later, (for .jpg images) if you click on that little "play"-looking button (the arrow pointing right in the circle, in the upper-right corner of Tofu's second pic), you can choose "save to file size," type in 125, and it will optimize as close as possible below that limit.

I was laughing for like 5 mins after i saw that

somtimes thought the size it says in ps actually goes up a bit when saved. in my entries is ps says its gunna be 103kb or summint like that when i save it its over 125 so try to go two option sbelow 125kb unless im doin somethng wrong.
