Hey,

This isn't a contest, but since I will be working on the redesign of the chat page I might as well get some ideas from you guys, as you'll be the ones using it. So feel free to design a chat page and post it here. Doesn't have to be very accurate, but should kinda show me how you guys want it set up. :gordonkl:

Clarification. I'm looking for DESIGN (looks) and not functionality suggestions.

is this reg chat or advanchat or both?
Only redesign we need is text box at top..the people that didnt like it
dont even use chat.
As far as issues already spoken over the last weeks..putting avatars in reg chat is harmless and we had a blast with that.

We should combine advantage chat and regular chat into one chat room, only to stop the spam make it that you need to have posted 10 entries to chat there. That'll help the older users that havn't used the site in a while, but would wan't to say hi to their old friends.

As far as redesiging the chat, I would put the message box at the top of the page, so you don't have to use the popup version. Oh and it really annoys me that you have to open a new popup window every time you want to quote something....

I think something along the lines of what splodge had in his temp-Chat while PSC was down.

Here's a screenshot. Umm.. yeah, ignore the fact that I'm talking to myself.
And that the ads were for hispanic dating (no idea what I said to bring that on)!
Laughing

The comments flow from top to bottom and the chat area scrolls when it gets past the bottom of the chat area.

Are you guys just trying to be funny? Now you all know there aint nobody gonna want to scroll to bottom to look at every post...and the only way to fix that is to make it a short page..which also nobody wants.

Why would you have to scroll to the bottom? The latest posts are always what you see right in the same area that you are typing your message to enter.. That way you see all the latest discussion and you don't have to scroll anywhere to keep up with it!

months ago, new site owner, Procyon, was very accommodating. Changed chat in one night...w/in minutes to our suggestions.

*change, change, listen, change, etc.*

All we were asking was chat box on top so we didn't need to scroll to bottom.

Ya had it perfect, PROC!!! that one magical night Wink

I want to add my vote for moving the text entry box back to the top of the page where it was for a couple days. It was way better having it at the top. no one should have a screen res lower than 1024x768 anyway. Razz

As for looks, how about making smileys in chat? Otherwise, I like it how it is pretty much...unless there are other features that are mentioned here that are awesome. So far, no other "features" mentioned are appealing. Don't change the way the text scrolls, it's pointless. It works perfectly fine.
