Sad to hear that you leave because of loosing one match. It is all about fun. And when you loose ppl will say what they really think of your work. Good for learning.

In round 2 I pull the hell out of my monster running out from the cave, checking on shadows, lightnings directions etc. Well, the light rays may be a bit childlish but I didn't know how to do it better.

http://photoshopcontest.com/tournament/view/589/display.html

After uploading, i thought it is a great job. I still think it is (comparing to my skills, but when I saw delucx snail, I knew I will loose. I was ready to lose but was a bit dissapointed with the difference in votes. I was absolutely smashed 90:23. That snail has something... I would vote for him too.
So what, I get to the round 2 in my first H2H. So for myself I am the winner and probably ended up where I deserved to be.

It is good that someone tell you that your shadows or lightning sucks, because that way you may figure out that if you did it again you vill get no votes again.

Chear up, friend, challenge is what drives us.

(Btw, I will not comment my results in this weeks annonimous contests, I am absolutely doomed). But not enough to quit. One day I will win daily contest just to prove to myself that I can. Or maybe I'll become better then I am.

That snail really does have something and it was tough to choose but I just loved your fish!!!

I thought I had a good chop too http://photoshopcontest.com/tournament/view/540/display.html but Rashdog did a better job. I did not mind loosing as much as not knowing where I went wrong. I love the daylies because people put in comments telling you what is wrong and sometimes how to fix it, ofcourse it's not possible in H2H. One must put it down as a learning experience and try to do better next time.

I ended up with four different chops, all branching from the cleanup, after at least 20 hours of work, like you. I spent another 8 hours deliberating which one should I submit.
Where do you get all that bloody time, dude? Laughing Laughing Laughing

Well, I spent petty much all the time doing the actual clean up. Then, only one chop was a major variation, the others were just smaller things. The smallest change was the umbrella chop, but it ended up being better than the other ones. Guess when you're out of high school and it's on a weekend, you have a lot more time than usual. Smile

You never know what people will vote for! ~ I've seen mediocre chops do quite well and fantastic chops not get to the top ten. Shocked I feel your pain when a chop you really put your heart into
don't get many votes, it sucks! ok? Sad but we must keep on rockin! and choppin! Cool

I didn't vote for the entry because the parts didn't really match.
The color, lighting, etc where different all throughout the scene

Thanks for all the reactions. But as you can read in my message It is not alone about the H2h. There is also nothing to blame on Mason, for he made a fairly appealing image which I like all the same.

all the point outs were taken. And of course it is not a top notch chop. But it is fair enough. I can see after reviewing the entry, that it is lacking some depth and maybe some color. But I did try to alter the colors a lot. If I know where to post it, I will share the .psd, so you can see.

-edit- Found it---http://wollcot.nl/psd/contest.psd WARNING 29.4 MB

It is NOT a cut and paste image. I redid the picture without the umbrella's and stuff and then build it up piece by piece.

Not mentioning persons, cause that would not be the right thing, I've seen winners this round, that have more shadow and perspective problems than mine. I could say that there are entries winning, that are extremely bad chopped (of course I voted for the other entry). But that is my opinion and I figured out already that my opinion differs a lot from others here.

Marco, you pointed out some fair mistakes. But in the remake you did (I know it is just 2 min.) There are people that are more blurred than the buildings on the same distance. That can't be right. Also the colors are, in my eyes, not that well integrated.

Either way, It is like IRL. In a group there are always the same things going on. I'm not someone who walks with the flow, and that is the way I am comfortable with. It just doesn't seem to comply with PSC.

So long.

@ polishmafia I guess you're just a child. If you are older than 18...I feel sorry for you ( try to chop something instead of blurring out this nonsense).

of course it still looks odd, for the very reason you pointed out.

My point was merely to convey simply the depth and colour aspect issues, rush job on your flat jpeg, it was never going to look sexy.

I feel you should bite the bullet and compete, you will never learn and progress by quitting all the time.

All the best either way

oh and slightly off topic, Patim.

But I remember the above image Bn just linked

http://photoshopcontest.com/view-entry/70731/display.html

when I arrived here at PSC. It was one of the main reasons why I stayed, as I came across PSC randomly, and was still cruising the web not trying to find a base to spend free time.

So basically, that image which I still think is frickin' cool, is a massive part of the reason I am here...so its all your fault Laughing Laughing Laughing

anyways, just thought ya may like to know that Very Happy you were inspirational to me at my PSC dawning Smile

Well said, Marco. I'm sure patim could hear you in the better place he has gone.

Would anyone else like to stand up and say a few words?

Ok, I'm done. Wink

It's ok, I lost by a lot of votes, but something should be done when posts like this are in the chats right when the contest starts.

TheShaman @ 8:39 am reply w/ quote
.... I did not say a word LD. lets not talk about it Very Happy but thank you I hope lol
Lord David @ 8:38 am reply w/ quote
Good entry Sham! Wink

I see today (Lord David) writes - "Good one Sham!" in his vote comment to Sean.
Sham?? Wait a minute, NOW HOW in the world did he know it wasn't mine? Because you can read the chat comment from above it should be obvious he cheated.

And two people mentioned in the vote comments section of the contest that they were "spammed" to vote.
One comment said "spam, spam, spam" and one said "I don't like spam! LOL (o;"

I guess cheaters DO win. But it's all in who you know, and that's just life I guess.

But a lighter note, I feel honored that Shaman felt he had to cheat to win. I also learned my lesson and I now know not to waste my time making any entries anymore, also I know not to waste my money on Advantage. So it's a good day. Wink
