ok so I've just realised I need to get a portfolio up so I can show it off to Uni's. Thinking about going to Chelsea or Saint Martin's to a graphic design/ graphic design w/ advertising/ graphic design w/ illustration/ graphic communication degree if anyone knows anything about any of this stuff I'd be more than glad to hear it Smile

So I'm having a bit of a "quick do some pictures before it's too late" type of mood and I was looking for some feedback on the picture I just made. Plus I have no idea what theyre looking for in the portfolio for this kind of degree so seriously if you know anything about it... oh yeah, and how do you guys pick the kind of picture that goes in your portfolio?

thanks in advance guys Cool Very Happy

Cool Expressive, contrasts and movement and I really like your style. Could also possibly be used as body art.

Good info here
http://www.teachervision.fen.com/visual-arts/teaching-methods/30073.html

We were asked to include emotive pieces, and as the link suggests to show your progression.

Best advice --
A student who is submitting a portfolio should show evidence of original thinking and depth. Quality is far more important than quantity.

I've great faith in you, Armo!

Hey Armo,

Make sure your portfolio shows off your strengths, there is no point in taking work that you think is good in part, but lacks something etc. Make sure it is varied and does not get repetative.

Colour, B&W, graphical, photography, artisitic, design. show examples of as many areas as possible, to show your versatility. But not millions of work, the tutors and leturers will be wanting to be entertained, but only for a few minutes. They may want to talk about your interpretation about each piece, and by selecting about 10 - 15 of your strongest pieces will enable them to do so in a relaxed way, which is better for you.

Nothing is worse than a portfolio jammed to the rafters with unorganised work, the tutors will skim through it and hardly take any of it in.

Make sure you go through your own chosen pieces well, trying to second guess what may be asked about them. This way you are prepared for it, and can answer confidently, a very impressive trait to have.

Hope this helps a little Smile

let the luminosity of the clouds show through the face and allow the black contrast to do its job with the depth and outlining

Yup, listen to your uncle Marco!!
Once you've picked the said 10-15 of your strongest pieces pick out the 3 strongest. Put one at the start, one in the middle and one to end with! Smile
