What do you think about an option in the profile, or upon entering each contest, to have your entry be anonymously posted until the end of the competition?

BigBuck-there was uniqueness involved in yours..Reys I voted for but didnt fully appreciate till a long time later when i looked at it again--basically the top three were equally fantastic in my book, great great contest.

I just thought Rey's would be a landslide winner....and I was really surprised to be in front of him. BTW, I actually picked it as Rey's anyway, even though it was anon.
This is only one example though Sci....the same thing has happened repeatedly through the anons. At least in a regular comp, you can usually pick the top 3 straight off. It ain't anywhere near as easy in the anons.

I think we all know that its difficult as hell to have a straight honest contest, anon or not, when there are so many people involved.. hell I've seen a user vote for 20 straight chops in a contest, in 2 minutes, clearly showing that the user never even looked at what everyone did. Just to get their vote back. Its just the way it is..

No seperate thing, either we all go annonimus one day a week or not at all

that's only right..

Why is that only right Sliver? Noone is requiring you to use it,
goodness knows you never would. You want to shoot down an idea that
ads a level of fairness to this game for those who actually play fair.
Don't you worry now, If I post anon by choice, you and all the others that depend on name recognition more than anything else aren't going to loose any votes.

You honestly think that the anon contests are fair !!!!

There's a damn site more jiggery pokery going on during anon contests I reckon.

No offense, but for the sake of the argument, if we assume that in 2005 PSC was in its prime with the highest number of active users/voters (all but 2 of the most-voted-for images are from that time) one could argue that adjusted for deflation ReyRey's chop from May 2007 probably comes as close as it can get (based on current PSC population)
I dunno--I was under the impression that the highest number of active users and voters was happening right now.
Most of the contests that produced the highest number of votes had 80+ entries. Recently the average number of entries in a contest is about 60. If it is logical that if you chop in a contest you most likely vote too, then the best images would get 80+ votes. FWIW number of votes could be tied in to number of entries in that particular contest. Probably irrelevant statistics, but anyway:

of the 16 most-voted-for images
votes / number of entries = votes per # of entries

110 / 87 = 1.264 Scion
108 / 108 = 1.000
103 / 125 = 0.824
103 / 87 = 1.184
101 / 85 = 1.202
97 / 125 = 0.776
96 / 83 = 1.156
95 / 59 = 1.610 BillTV
94/125 = 0.752
92 / 111 = 0.823
91 / 111 = 0.820
91 / 65 = 1.400 ReyRey
89 / 81 = 1.077
89 / 78 = 1.141
88 / 74 = 1.189

I guess BillTV's rhino chop is the best of all time Wink

Or how about this one
74 / 46 = 1.609 Meaty

or this one
86 / 44 = 1.954 YerPalAl

I don't think you would want to do anon contests on a very frequent basis, but having this type of contest once a month or every two months could be a positive thing. But it would seem that you would want both the entries and the votes to be anon and then only revealed at the close of the contest.

I am wondering whether it would change the outcome of a contest and bring a better chop to the top than it would otherwise under the current system.
