I found this software a while back called "Blender" and was wondering if anyone could shed some light on it. It's a 3D rendering software that is....."FREE" but not sure how good it is because I have no 3D software experience so can't compare it to anything. Here is the link if anyones interested in downloading it and taking it for a ride. Again it's totally free so was curious if it's a "get what ya paid for" type thing.
Any feedback appreciated!
Thanks! Wink

In truth mate looks ok, not to hard to use but like you I have no experience in 3d stuff either. Ask Gran he uses 3d stuff a lot.

I've been using it for a while.
You get way more than what you pay for.
You pay for nothing, and get a program that has more features than you'll ever use.
Its kinda confusing to learn at first, but this tutorial will help.
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_3D:_Noob_to_Pro
work your way through that, it'll be worth your time.

Here are some examples of what blender can do.
This is an officially sponsored blender movie.
http://www.elephantsdream.org/
There is pretty much no plotline, (it was made in the netherlands, so the writers where probably high) but awesome animation.

These are a couple things I made for a video contest.
https://freshbrain.org/video-contest-entry/freshtoon
Used blender to animate that.
https://freshbrain.org/video-contest-entry/invent
And I used blender for the CG shot at the end.

What is Pyton? In one of the noob help answers it says you need Pyton or Blender does not work... What does this Pyton do?

I took a web design class for my degree using Dreamweaver. The book we used was very clear and step by step, helped a lot, almost too simplified (think babysteps) with lots of screen shots and the like.

It is Dreamweaver 8: Comprehensive Concepts and Techniques by Shelly Cashman Wells and Freund.

Worth buying if you are trying hard with Dreamweaver.

Smile

Or PM me if you get stuck and I'll try to help. I use it exclusively for my web design stuff.

You do not need Python.
Python is a scripting language that blender was built with.
Python scripts will run in blender and can be used to create add-ons.
SO, you can install python if you want, but it'll be a long time before you need it.
