Thanks Volks - with respect, we got that far. We are wrestling with the MULTIPLE PLANES issue (where the paper wraps around the corner of the room.

I've been having issues tearing off the second and third PLANES - in my case they are not letting me resize the new panes independent of the first pane (in other words I can't even do a "RED" illegal plane.

I shot my bedroom so I could have an easy example of a perspective with two side wall. I have no problem creating the 1st PLANE. But for the side-Planes, when I drag a new frame off the side they only stay parallel. I need to be able to reshape them by dragging down the control points (circled in RED above) but they are dead, and I only get the "NOT AVAILABLE" icon when I put my cursor over them.(FYI, the GREEN points are "dead" also).

I've tried every possible keyboard short cut (CMND, CNTRL, OPTION, all combos) to change these points to movable, but it seems locked up.

I'm thinking it may be a program glitch - I seem to remember that in the past I could freely transform these points (and thus, when really screwing them up, getting the dreaded RED GRID). Perhaps this is a software glitch at my end - Once my household wakes up here, I'll grab my PowerBook and see if it's version of CS4 does the same thing... but at this point it is very frustrating. Huh..

(P.S. you may wonder why Eve and I want to figure out this Extra Focal Plane set up? When it works right you can put an object on the wall and it "wraps" around corners with multiple perspectives... see two-wall example video HERE But I know it works on multiples too...)

This video is very good and covers a few BONUS points regarding this tool.

http://www.planetphotoshop.com/vanishing-point.html

But nothing about free-transforming those side panels. I'm starting to think that the side panels are all based on THE FIRST PLANE YOU CREATE. So I'm gonna try starting with the side wall first (Plane #3 in my example photo above). I'll keep yooz posted, peeps! reindeer

Okay - I've got ONE thing figured out about this Rather Amazing Yet FRUSTRATING feature of Photoshop:

I was right - the FIRST plane you draw determines all the other planes from there on. You can ROTATE their angle, but you can NOT "free-transform" the additional panels. So my RED and GREEN control points from my previous example are LOCKED based on the first VP Plane I created (which was square, in that case, and gave the program no perspective info to go on for the additional VP Planes I pulled out.) Razz

I now have my perspective running around my room. I started with the right wall, as the shelf by my bed gave me a good clue on how to lay out the first plane accurately.

(now i just need to find better stuff to hang on my walls - this stuff is giving me NIGHTMARES! Razz )

so far, I've managed to grid one plane, then extend it to the other wall. However, once I ctl v the new wallpaper, it's huge...I'm not able to resize it and it won't contour to the new grid.

ggggggrrrrr is for grid Twisted Evil
not sure about CS3, this is what works for me in CS4

1. build the multiplane grid

2. paste the larger-than-life texture

3. for better control, turn off 'Multi-Surface' and 'Clipping'

4. zoom out. scale down texture and adjust it to fit the back plane

5. turn 'Multi-surface' back on

6. adjust texture to fit the side walls

7. turn 'Clipping' back on

It appears that CS3 is the same as CS4.

This thread has been made a sticky for reference.

A cool trick in CS4 Extended (once you tame the multi-surface grids) is to "Return a 3D layer to Photoshop" to create a pseudo-VR image of the room

I'm pretty sure CS3 extended can do this as well. I remember making something simular too this long ago when I was exploring all of CS3e's features. Very cool feature Vok.

The best uses of vanishingpoint is to export it to After Effects. Then you can have some real fun.
