Delia ....YOU DA MAN... Surprised ....i mean ....ahhh' you know what i mean. Wink
and to think you do this with a mouse. Shocked Of course i use my tablet like a RETARD with a big crayon. So maybe its about tit-for-tat. Smile

Pat thanks for the advise. Speaking of brushes...i only used the basic brushes in PS. Which may explain why it looks flat and 2d. I was trying to keep it simple, being my first time. Shocked ...ughhh first time SMUDGE'N that is. Raising Brow Mr. Green

I have to admit......it's addictive. I may become a SMUDGE JUNKIE. Embarassed

Haven't painted in a while....

Here's one I just finished.... a photo of my daughter taken just about a week or two ago? She's just turned 6 now. She's a heartbreaker! Her grandma gave her the pearls. Smile

And a view at 100% resolution for details...

and the original snapshot:

Something about this reminds me of the paintings that were done for the Olympics in the 80's.

Oh and gesundheit! Laughing

and Delia, remeber that in a self portrait u can go in a more expressive way, experimenting things without upsetting anybody else than you, tahts why selfportraits are always better than portraits (most of the time) Smile

Now that it's over, anyone know what I could have executed better with this smudge painting? The only thing that comes to mind is the amount of detail in the painting. This was my first try and just about broke the left-click on my mouse Razz Thanks in advance for the input.

Frankly, I think the cat is just fine, I just don't like your background. Smile If you made the background painterly as well, I think it would work better. Right now, it doesn't have any brush strokes in it to match the painting. Looks like a painted cat in 3-D in front of a psychedelic background.

Like I said though, the cat is done well, just need to extend that to the background.
