Why not use all 25 of your votes? A vote and comment of encouragement could mean alot to a beginner. Also, PSC is a popularity contest. The easiest way I know to make friends is vote for them.

P.s: If you submit a chop in a comp, you shouldnīt vote for the oponent because its what people expect you to do, you should vote for them if you like their entry. And if you donīt itīs undertandable, just donīt get so caught up with winning that you miss on voting for a good entry..

Money sure uglies up a place...

has nothing to do with either really. You have to have a good concept or idea, and then blend it all together well.

having a good external can only take you so far. just as having a good idea and not finishing it can take you only so far.

your wooden fish is a great example of a good idea, that was done pretty well. It got votes.

Like shaman, I disagree.
The key is having a good creative idea and execution. Having that done you shouldn't worry too much about the votes. People tend to vote for cliche entries, cute entries, funny yet not always well executed, etc. So don't worry too much about the votes more about what you achieved.

I've had votes from reyrey, I could sell you one of mine. Laughing

The secret to getting votes is just what shaman said. All source, outside image added, its all good, it just has to be done good.

No. Try not. Do, or do not. There is no try.

Having a good execution is certainly important to me before I cast a vote. If external elements are added, they have to really blend in perfectly with the source, as if they have always been there. I wouldn't vote for a good idea if the execution was really bad, where the cutout elements are really bad, or where perspective doesn't fit, where lights and colours are not correct (and sometimes I see entries like that, sorry, don't mean to offend anyone, I had to learn myself, and I still think of myself as a beginner).
