They show something like this on Babytv. I always liked them. I've seen them on commercials too, where the narrator is describing things and the artwork is being created, but as the subject matter changes, the artist transforms the current image into a completely different image with a few clever strokes.
Usually they shoot these from under a clear table, so all you see is the shadow of the hands creating the image. This is the first time I've seen the other side of the table and the actual artist, so that clears up any doubt I had that these were edited in any way.
