This is an allergic reaction I had to some medicine the doc prescribed to me.

lol, well not exactly, there was actually 2 meds I was on due to this hurrendous splinter I had under my finger nail that got infected. so it was one of the 2 meds... one was a pain killer, the other was an antibiotic. I took a pain killer the night before and the antibiotic.. so it was either one of them or both that caused it, but it is listed as a "Dangerous side effect" that I should immediately get help... which I didn't

benadryl is what they would have given me.. so thats what I took for the condition...lol this morning after waking up, its quite a bit better, but not gone. still itchy as hell..



Oscar, do you make it a habbit of eating shrimp, mangoes or avocados anyway? or is that one of those things you find out after the fact? an ingredient that wasn't listed or cross contamination?

I love Shrimp and the rest... once in a while I would eat them without knowing and I get a huge reaction.

thats gotta suck, especially when you love to eat it..... i know this does.. i never had this reaction to meds till now, but I have had some good ones in the past.. even sleep walking. One night I ended up in the opposite side of my house in a room, total darkness, didnt know where I was.. this is the junk storage room.. you can barely navigate it in the day time when your wide awake, how I got where I was in there, I still dont know.. levitated i guess..lol



its a lot better today, so tomorrow, hoping I will be cured..

If I were you I would find out which of these meds caused the allergy and than avoid it totally in the future. Allergic reactions should not be ignored. I took some cough medicine was very common type you buy off the counter and given even to young children and it nearly killed me. It had iodine in it and I found out the hard way that I'm allergic to it. Now even if I touch or eat something with minute traces of Iodine in it (such as shell fish) I get an allergic reaction. I have to tell the doctor and pharmacist every time I need to take anything. The pharmacist usually knows better than the doctor which med may contain traces of the drug you are allergic to.

probably both of them... pain killers and antibiotics have both given me probs in the past..
Im allergic to hydrocodone. Told a doc that a while back after a surgery i had.. wife got the script filled.. came home gave it to me, 15 min later i was regurgitating everything I had ate over the past 6 months.. told her to get the drug fact paper, it was generic hydrocodone.

I told the doc and the nurse I was allergic to the crap. being the wife heard them say ok, no hydro for you.. she didnt think she needed to check. not her fault by any means.. i sure as hell let the doc know during my followup. It was nice and painful not having anything more than tylenol or ibuprofen to take..


the funny thing is I can take them fr several days before it hits me..
my reaction change to meds.... one day it will make me sleepy, next will supercharge me.. time after that regurgitation, or no effect at all, one time severe shakes, amnesia, sleep walking, and it goes on.

I can drink caffine and it can make me sleepy.
i can take a sleeping pill and it does one of 2 things. knocks me out for multiple days or speeds me up.
