I know this has been asked before, but if you see a spam thread, please don't respond to it - Especially if it is inappropriate.

If you don't respond, it goes away faster. It's that simple.

Out of respect to people on the site who's children view PSC and potential new members... Please let spam threads die until a mod can get to them.

I didnt respond to the spam that posted lastnight (this morning) but I seen it.

Are you going to send me a prize for being good now?

I actually wish there was someone online that had delete powers at those times of night (for me)

Never know how many people just got a bad impression, especially if its their first visit.. and there are a few of us that are usually online at those times..

I asked before, but let me ask again - is there any way to add code to restrict posting privileges for newly signed 'members' to, let's say
- posting replies to old threads allowed 30 minutes after signing
- starting new threads allowed 24 hours after signing, or after posting at least one entry in a contest

Similar to the anti-spam measure of disallowing posts with links and images until certain conditions are met (10 posts), is there a way to add some timeout-after-signing restriction as above?

Vokaris has a great idea

Perhaps the 1st few post of a new member can be set to upon admin/mod approval, then manually approve the member if they are real. it would take the same amount of time to do as deleting threads.

that way they dont have to wait long if they are real.
if they aren't, we dont see it, and yall just ignore it or hit no.

The restrictions in place currently are already pretty invasive. They cause new members who need help trouble if they need to post images. Forcing members to be approved before they are allowed in isn't a good solution for a community like this.

I'd estimate that 95% of spam has now been stopped, and 99% of spam that gets through is non-sensical and harmless.

Taking the time to code something that requires constant maintenance just doesn't seem worth it. And please don't think I'm responding angrily at all. The idea isn't bad, I just don't think it's the best for this particular situation.

I just think it would be much simpler for people to simply ignore spam threads.

If 99% of Spam that does get through is non-sensical and 'Harmless'... Why all the fuss Question
Fix the the problem not the members responses.

That's my 2c's worth
