It's scary how many child molesters walk free because people are too scared and embarrassed to report the incident. Kudos to you for stepping up and stopping this sick bastard from hurting more people. Hopefully he goes to prison because they will take care of him there. . .
These kind of stories and recently reading the book the lovely bones are harsh reminders that it is hard to trust anybody and how easy it is for these sickos. I am already overprotective of my daughters but this will raise that up a bit.

I think you did the right thing to try to come even with the past and bring justice, although it won't erase the memories.
It takes a lot of guts to do what you did. Not only the mission you took, but also being open about this.
I hope that others with similar experiences follow your example.
Respect.

Thank you all for your comments but I am no hero.
The young boy who came forward to police is. He did what none of us could,
not even me. The confusion, fear, saddness, embarrassment, shame, and anger he must feel is more
than I could face at that age. That's the hero in all this. I am proud to now call him my friend.
I am proud of myself for finally doing something about it. I am proud of myself for finding this young man and letting him know that he did nothing wrong, that he had nothing to be ashamed of and that he was the victim in all this. All I could do was relate to him and let him know that he was not alone. He took it to the next level. He did the heroic thing. Without him this man would still be free. I hope he knows how special he is.

I'm gonna have to disagree on part.

You did act bravely. YOU approached this kid and told him your story. YOU helped put the ball in motion by facing up to a painful event from YOUR past.

I don't care that it happened two decades later. This guy likely had lots of victims and none of them stepped forward like you did. That took guts.

Rey you faced your fears and did something about it. Both you and the kid are heroes in this instance.
