Being the closest match don't make it the best match.
There were some real crackers. My pick would be Rosewood71 vs Tesore .

nice job but the source is unrecognizable, that's why you've lost

I don't mind losing, just being doubted!!!

For me, it was about using the whole source to create something new and I thought it was pretty recognisable: sand for the pale body and limbs, the twists for the antenna, feet and sting, and the textures from the concrete for the dark wasp areas. I guess I made it too 'realistic', huh? Wink

I look forward to seeing the entries in the next round!

Smile

I agree with supak0ma .and i think your use of the source is great but you can see theshaman work and use of the source his image is great. But you always can back . So see you next year.

mellowdesign - amazing job, the only source I could notice was the sand, the antenna, the stinger and the little ends on the legs. It was hard to know whether or not ALL of it was source...

Anyway, mine was all source too. Here's my psd for anyone interested. https://www.box.com/s/cab543011f51d3c16824

not exactly true. pretty sure mine was obvious. It was nothing but source Laughing

thanks taker. and even with that use it still lost.

apparently it wasn't interesting enough.

meh. I was happy with it.
All sources tend to be my downfall. I should have done more with some outside ocean or something. Needed that Xfactor IE: lasers coming out of his eyes or something like a 50 foot bird destroying some kids sandcastle to get this crowd motivated.

obvious.

obvious |ˈäbvēəs|
adjective
easily perceived or understood; clear, self-evident, or apparent :

as in: you could see my use of source easily.
Sand + Screws = Sandpiper Bird minus Xfactor = loss Laughing
