Photoshop Contest Forum Index - Ask the Experts - Photo Clip-Art - worth buying? - Reply to topic

Tired of searching through endless pages of random google images, and only occasionally finding something useful on Getty, I thought I should buy one of those sets of photos on CD. Examples include Photo Objects, Ideasoft Photo Clip-Art 10,000, Pick-A-Photo, etc.

Does anyone own of those sets? Are they worth having, or do you still end up searching Google or Getty because it's faster and easier? Any advice anyone has would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I have more than a couple of the photo CDS, and I occasionally use a picture to support a PSC project. Usually it is category or background related. If I am just searching for ideas, I normally use Google. Also in some of those CDS, there are a lot of wmf files and other different file types which may not be easily convertible to workable files for a PSC project. My suggestion would be to check the CD before buying it to determine if the basic file types are jpeg , gif and wbmp or png. If you are going to get a lot of categorized stock photos with those file types on a CD, then it is at least worth considering the purchase.

it would be a good idea if there werent tons of free images online already. i mean, getty has some pretty good search criteria in terms of getting what you want. (just dont steal an entire getty image, i hear people around here get pretty upset about it Wink )

Like Patre said, I got stuck with useless CDs full of files that I don't know the file extention. I would've had to do a huge install and use their crappy program. It sucked. Being a member of an online photo group like usefilm.com can be an interesting alternative.

You can also check out Adobe Bridge. I'm not sure how much it costs though
