Howdy. After reading that the site was getting low on source images, I recently donated some photos that I took. Some of the photos are going to be the featured image in the coming days. Ethical question: Do you think I should be able to submit entries to contests where I'm the photographer of the source image? I mean, I can use all the help I can get, but would it give me an unfair advantage? What do you think?

People have done it before.

It's not anything to worry about.

Enjoy the site. Smile

I dont have a problem with you providing some source photo's if the site needs them"..the more fresh source photo's the better" Idea You may have more time to get idea's but sometimes the best idea's can be spontanious".. Cool We go through source photo's like water, Razz so I can understand why more source is needed Wink what if we ran out of source Question Crying or Very sad not! Cool

good question. I've thought about that since I was considering submitting a few images for contest use. I just figured since it was my own image that I would not compete on the day it was used. Theoretically you could be working on an image weeks or months before anybody else. just my opinion........

OR we could could call it "Advantage Plus"

I did not chop the images of mine that jmh so
graciously put up as source.
I regret not chopping them.
An image you took may have more meaning to you and inspire a better
chop- there's nothing wrong with that.
Besides- you don't really get a head start- you never know which ones he'll use and won't use.
Have Fun. Smile

go for it qlt. If as scion said, you won't know which pic he'll use on a particular day. Plus think of it as a reward for submitting the source in the first place. Wink

I sent a whole bunch of images, and think they might use several. Maybe, if I submit that day, I'll just make sure that the author's comments include that I took the source...that way, people who think it's unfair can choose not to vote for it...or leave a snide comment about my deluxe advantage...at which point I'll refer them to this forum topic! maybe you can chop it in advance, and than post a day later Laughing but don't hesitate to post. This site is for the fun of everyone. So if you like to compete, do so.

First of all, I'm getting sock envy from viewing these forums...

Tiff, I'd be thrilled to see your photos -- then chop 'em till they cry (wait that's not me, that's Marco)...still I think all's fair in war and photoshop contests. We're looking forward to seeing your photos and entries too!!!!

I don't understand what difference would it make when she is sponsor of this site anyway.
She, like many advantage members, will be able to chop 7 days ahead anyway, so just because the sources are yours Queen, I don't see any big advantage or difference from what other advantage members have now.
Go for it girl and good luck

Thanks for the feedback, you guys. It seems like most people think the way I do about this, but it's good to know for sure.

I think I ended up submitting photos because I saw something in the news section of the site that said PSC was running low on source images. I sent a PM to the moderators, and they took it from there. I think if you email a link to where your photos are hosted, they will just download them.
