I've been looking all around the web for deals on earlier versions of PS that might run on my home computer.

In looking up all the versions all I see for system requirements is "Pentium 4" or better and 192MB of RAM.

That's a bit vague to me. What I want to know is SPEED requirments for the CPU. I have a Dell with a 1.3GHz P4 processor. On the downside I only have 128MB of RAM. If I had the money to buy more memory would I be able to run Photoshop (version 7 or higher) with any form of speed? Or am I better off getting a new computer?

As a side note my PC uses Rambus (RDRAM) so it's actually cheaper for me to buy a new computer I think. But I seriously want to know what CPU speeds and RAM amounts are realistic for running Photoshop.

For instance Windows XP is supposed to run on PC with 300 megahertz or higher processor (233 MHz minimum required) and 128 megabytes (MB) of RAM (64 MB minimum supported). But even the recommended speed and RAM amount is too low to be realistically useful.

I'm running at a snail's pace with 512 MB of RAM. I think at least 1 GB is a good minumum to set when it comes to RAM. With a 1.3 GHz processor, I recommend you get a new computer if you can afford it.

I used to run PS7 on a AMD athlon 700mhz with 96mb of SDram.
So, it will run.

Ha! I am running PS7.0 on a craptastic HP pc from 1998, running Windows98, with 128mb RAM, 40gb HD, and a craptastic graphics card, all loaded up with enough glitches and viruses to make you cry. But hey, PS hasn't crashed my pc for about half a year now (Brilliant, considering what other programs do to it...) So yes, if it can run on mine, I am almost positively sure it'll run on yours.
