Understood... BTW: I like the tip of using a bare tree for a bloodshot eye... THATS EXACTLY WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT!

Might never have know that if the viewer had not drilled into your source jpg, but I appreciate what you are saying... thanks.

If every entry had one simple tip next to it, the overall quality of the site's entries would improve... which would make people on top pull their sock up... like for instance the Mystery Boy (?) from the UK who's entries have been slipping a little recently... ( a respectful jibe!)

Good point... I had thought of that but a little after completing my entry form suggestion. Does this answer the question?!?

I like the tip area, but the external one is too much.
Besides all of this can be taken care of inside the authors notes.
It's why they put it there.

and to be fair to the UK guy you speak of...

It must be really hard to keep all those sweatshop workers happy when he makes them chop every single day.

I know I have trouble keeping up quality and fresh ideas when I entered in every single daily contest.
Now I just don't have the time to dedicate to it anymore.

Kudos to those who can.

I have been here for a little while now and find if I have a question a simple PM goes a long way.
Just ask if you want to know how some one achieved that great effect. Most people are more than willing to teach there secrets.
I beleive its best to leave the contest side of things just that and the learning as a separate idea.

Dont forget the tutorial section has some great offerings as well, and we have ask the experts section in the forum to help out as well.

Hope that helps you out.

Very Happy

Very simple sugar flowers for on a birthdaycake... but good to start with:

desaturation would really make this blend w/the background you chose Tes.

I send you a pm cause I didn't know what desaturation was!

Then use the dodge & burn tools to create highlight & shadow

tip:
Dodge 'n' burn are crap tools for highlights and shadows. For most textured surfaces....curves and levels (w. adjstmnt layer set to luminosity) work more effectively. All else....paint shadow area on separate layer (s)...set to (but not always) multiply.

well....that's how I do it, anyway...so aint that the right way? Wink
