well done. my only suggestion might be the dark water where the wave breaks on the sand. maybe some highlights from the lightning would be good. the rain effect is also pretty good but maybe a little more definition would do the trick.

yeah, I was between 2 minds, wether to do solid looking rain, but it would mask the power of the image I was trying to create, or to give the imaage some life and movement, so I decided on movement

I hear what people are saying about the rain, I made a call, I think its the correct 1, as some of the finer detail was lost with the rain looking thicke &sharper, the attention was taken from the entire scene, &looked a bit like 'hey, look at my rain '

and thanks Voks, but with the flash of lightning, I highlighted the edges of the guy, and at that point I felt his back would be engulf by near darkness. Great pointers people, thanks, keep them coming, I will try to make some alterations later :o)
