I like the chop but it's a little cut-and-pasted looking where the feathers meet the background. Channel mask to extract this might work better than a selection?

It doesn't really matter what you were"thinking" cause the resulting image is Real Good*! It might look better to vary the wings a bit, but...

maybe a touch of darkness or defringe on the back feathers & head where that white is? and just a touch of shadow where the body meets the legs.
