sound slike a good idea.
but making it truly anonymous would mean not just making the urls anonymous, but making it where ppl cant see the user id, i have no idea how to do it, someone showed me once, and it was too much trouble for me lol, but supposedly, there is a way to look at coding and v figure out who it is.

Mentioning this and sugggesting it be changed is very much biting the hand that feeds me, as, i know at least two ppl use this process and vote for me. I do however want votes for my work not who i am. I have changed hosting sites many times for this reason. (and its not that i dont appreciate those thinking of me)

Since a number of people seem unhappy with the current system I say let us give this a shot and see how it flies.

missrobin74: IF the posts are truly anonymous
and if they are what about people who whore off the site (email/IM)
that cant be controlled Huh..
for the voting: I think different categories is a cool idea for different ranks like how the HOF is set up
this way people who just join (noobs) can have a better chance of winning a contest

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH JERRY 100%
robin: how would you determine beginner vs advanced? that would cause a hell of alot more problems here, way more than these (though not huge) problems we have now

edit: i read that... let me clarify... how would you determine which users are beginner and who are advanced.

by number of posts? well i have none, and if i wanted to start posting, i wouldnt be a beginner. definitely not advanced... just one of those in between.

The compromise sounds okay to me! Author anonymity is my greatest concern, so yeah.

When I started posting here most people would only vote for one or maybe two images. It was not uncommon for an image to win with only 7 or less votes. That made me try a whole lot harder. Separate contests would be too much work for JMH, but it is a thought. I rarely use my 15 votes now so reducing the number of votes would not prevent people from gettng votes. They just would not get as many, nor would anyone else.

robin: vpp? some people who started here a long time ago, when winning a contest was by getting 10 votes, have low VPPs because there werent that many users.

time theyve been here? that really means nothing, cause some people post 2 everyday of the week, some have been here for months, even years, and post once every 3 months.

*shrug* im not pickin on ya, hope i dont sound like it Razz

in my opinion, i think it should be either anonymous everything or non-anonymous everything

OK, based on this thread and the other thread, like me, most people misread the question!! I DEMAND A RECOUNT Wink

I thought it was a question of whether the author should remain anonymous or not.
